Fellowship |

For several years now the Session and the Fellowship Committee have sponsored a service
club for our church. We believe that this service club has given more members
an opportunity to be involved in the ministry and fellowship life of our
congregation. As members who have taken a sacred pledge to support the church,
we hope that you will agree that the principles behind a service club are
both fair and friendly. The concept is quite simple. During a given month, only members from a twelfth of the congregation will be contacted by monthly co-chairs for the hosting of the coffee hour following worship or to assist with any special meals or receptions (such as a funerals, or seasonal events) which fall beyond the duties of the Women's Association. The service club process will thus provide for greater participation by a wider range of members. Even homebound members can participate through their prayers for the church. Some people who are unable to physically assist in hosting events can make a small, voluntary financial contribution to defray the cost borne by others. The plan has been used successfully in other local congregations and we believe it will benefit our church as well. Every member of the church is included on the roster of the service club since in some way (through prayer, donation or physical service) every member can participate. In the future the service club responsibility will be shared with confirmation students and other new members. Please visit back at a later time as we add to this page. Thank you! |
