Insect Migration Risk Forecast (IMRF)

Mike Sandstrom and Dave Changnon, Department of Geography, Northern Illinois University

The Insect Migration Risk Forecast, or IMRF, is a proactive forecasting product issued daily Monday through Friday from mid-May to the end of September (except holidays) that outlooks regions at risk for insect migration in the Midwest and Ontario, Canada related to weather patterns in the central United States.  For more information on how weather and climate affects the development and movement of crop-damaging insects in the central United States, please see Vegetable Insect Management.  The forecast is specifically geared toward corn earworm (CEW), but is applicable to all other migratory insects as well.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The IMRF forecast has moved to its permanent home on NIU's Ag-Weather Website "AWARE" at the following link:  http://agweather.niu.edu/IMRFForecast.html .  Please update your bookmarks.  This temporary IMRF page will only serve as a link to the new website shortly once the 2007 Archive files are uploaded to the new server.
